Q: What is ImageLinker?
A: ImageLinker? is a GUI application based on the qt library and OSSIM. It demonstrates the power and capabilities of the OSSIM library system. Many of the ossim capabilities can be accessed through menus. Images can be loaded, mosaicked, combined, fused, and output. Swipe windows can be used for change detection and the image chains from these operations can be inspected and modified. ImageLinker? also contains a canvas for image chain editing - often referred to as the visual chain editor. Functions and algorithms in OSSIM are dynamically connectable and can be combined in new ways at runtime. Much like legos, they can be connected in new ways to experiment and make new products. Each algorithm or function can be double clicked and its associated parameters modified.
Q: What is an Image Chain?
A: An image Chain is the processing chain required to build a geospatial image product. It typically begins with geospatial data on disk which is fed to a loader, a band selector, a resampler, and then maybe combined with another chain to produce a mosaic or blended product, finally a selected region may be output to another disk file. Each function requests tiles (imagery) from its predecessor to fulfill its output.
